What do the cloud computing data centers look like. Are they banks of server racks?

Lots of current day data centers are not made as a single room with rows and rows of server racks any more. To keep things cost effective, it is now easier for computer manufacturers like Dell, HP, Sun to sell servers by the shipping container. These shipping containers are preconfigured with lots of racks inside. Companies like Amazon, Google and Microsoft purchase heaps of these shipping containers and slot them into the data center. When enough of the servers in a container die, they simply replace the entire shipping container. |
